Sara Özsarfati

Sara was born in 1959 in Izmir, Turkey. After graduating from American College Institute İzmir, she studied BS Computer Programming in Bosporus University in İstanbul.

She took painting classes at Mahir Güven Studio from 1995 till 2002. In 1997 she also attended an Art History Programme with Arşo Kasbaryan for 2 years. Since 2013 Sara has been painting with Altan Çelem Consultancy in her own atelier.

Between 1998 and 2006 Sara had many exhibitions in different galleries in İstanbul such as Ekav Art Gallery and Gallery Artist. Her artworks were exposed in Cannes, France in 2008 and in Tokyo, Japan in 2009. The artist has participated in the exhibition “Artistas Sefardíes desde Istanbul a Barcelona” in Pere Pruna, Barcelona in 2014. Since then she has exhibited in various exhibitions in Turkey such as “3 Women, 3 View” in Liv Hospital and “Universal Journey” in Gallery Artist. In 2018, she participated in “1492: Göke” Exhibition organised by Yunus Emre Institute in London at La Galleria Pall Mall.

The artist combines her life experiences with her visual perception and shapes them with her own touch. She adopts matters with her own point of view and cultivates them with varying perspectives. Sara transfers her interpretations on the canvas with various techniques she has accumulated over the years. She associates herself with abstract fields.

Sara has developed a highly personal style in her artworks and she has a splendid imagination with an immense ability to translate her emotions to create her paintings.
